Wheel alignment

A wheel alignment is when the angle of the wheels is adjusted so that they are set to the car maker’s specification. The purpose of these adjustments are to keep the wheels parallel to each other, perpendicular to the road and their respective axels to provide the least rolling resistance, friction and tyre wear.

There are a few things which knock your wheels out of alignment over time: driving over potholes, curb impacts, driving on rough roads, and general wear and tear.

A few benefits of having a wheel alignment

1. Reduced tyre wear

Improper alignment is a major cause of premature tyre wear. Over the years, a properly aligned vehicle can add thousands of kilometers to tyre life.

2. Improved Handling

Does your car pull to one side? Does the steering wheel vibrate? Do you constantly have to move the steering wheel to keep your car travelling straight ahead? Many handling problems can be corrected by a wheel alignment. With all the system components aligned properly, road shock is more efficiently absorbed for a smoother ride.

3. Safer Driving

A suspension system inspection is part of our alignment check. This allows us to spot worn parts before they cause costly problems

You lose more than just tyre tread if you fail to keep your vehicle properly aligned. Many suspension parts such as tie rods, shocks, struts and springs can also begin to wear as a direct result of a misaligned vehicle, which can eventually cause a costly repair bill.

A wheel alignment should be done after getting new tyres, even if the “old” tyres are worn evenly
